About mixeye

Mixeye exists solely as a platform for the general public to showcase their insights and opinions via a variety of topic channels related to news and current events. Although contributions will be accepted from the expert to the layman, we strive for and envision a professional stage on which an individual can demonstrate their unique and informed take on a host of topics ranging from global political events to pop culture to layman small-town field reporting. Each contributed viewpoint is comprised of both a visual and a textual component describing a particular event or perspective.

Mixeye is not a blog aggregator. Accepting synidicated feeds from various bloggers and journalists would unfortunately dilute the content on mixeye, making it necessary for web surfers to sift through countless viewpoints. Mixeye favours publishing a few, chosen, high-quality viewpoints from a contributor -- the purpose is not to be a blog-hosting site, but to allow the web surfer to discover new websites, blogs, and perspectives.

Bloggers and journalists are encouraged to periodically contribute a viewpoint to mixeye as a way of introducing new web surfers to their blogs or websites. However, linking to a blog or website is not the only purpose of mixeye. Contributions that are not affiliated with any particular website are also accepted. Viewpoints are maintained on the mixeye website for a maximum period of 730 days before being archived for posterity.

From a global standpoint, mixeye sees itself as simply one portal to the growing network of legitimate, publically shared news outside of existing mainstream reporting avenues. Corporate, government and any other special-interest control of news angles inherently degrades and narrows the potential legitimacy of such news. We believe that sharing a seemingly endless number of perspectives will lead to individuals making wiser decisions as to what a specific news event actually entails for themselves and others at home and around the globe. Knowledge is power; mixeye wishes to increase access to a multitude of opinions regarding world events for you to mull over, question and thus develop a more informed knowledge base.
